Rates and Policies
Free consultations are available to prospective students (and parents/guardians, if applicable) to spend some time getting to know the teacher ask any questions about teaching style, policies, etc. A short lesson will usually be given during a free consultation as well. Each person is limited to one free consultation.
Lessons are $25/30 minutes, $37.50/45 minutes, $50/hour and can be paid either per lesson, or a month in advance. I accept cash, check, PayPal or credit/debit cards.
Many homeschoolers are able to have lessons paid for by their online school. I am happy to fill out any paperwork requested by the school to have lessons reimbursed.
Most students take lessons weekly, but for teens and adults, every other week is an option after one month of weekly lessons. Adults can take lessons less often on a case by case basis. Piano lessons are usually 30 minutes long, but longer lessons for older students are an option. For voice lessons, 30 minute lessons are only for young elementary students, adults are required to take 60 minute lessons.
To have a regular reserved time for lessons, students need to take lessons at least twice a month. Students who take lessons less often will need to schedule their lessons individually, on a space available basis.
If students are unable to attend a scheduled lesson, they need to give me 48 hours notice. For emergencies, such as car troubles, illness, etc, a shorter notice is acceptable, if I am notified in a timely matter, preferably in advance. I will only accept 2 emergency absences per quarter. Any other absence will be considered an unexcused absence. The full lesson fee will be charged for an unexcused absence, and will need to be paid at the next lesson, along with the current lesson fee.
If an student has more one unexcused absence, they will also need to pay an unexcused absence fee, equivalent to one lesson fee. The fee will be retained to pay for any future unexcused absences. If unused, it can be used to pay for a student’s last lesson, or will be refunded by check after a student discontinues lessons.
